Lib Tech invited one of snowboarding’s most prolific freestyle rulers Brandon Reis to reimagine the vibe of the iconic Skate Banana. They gave him a blank canvas and free reign to unleash his @monareisa drawings on his favorite all mountain board. This Brandon Reis special edition Banana rides like any other: rips the park, carves ice, jibs and floats effortlessly in powder but with a little extra kid brain at work to enhance the everyday abnormally fun weirdness of snowboarding. So feel free to be free on Brandon’s freestyle Banana after all he’s from New Hampshire where they “Live free or die” and always ride it weird!

CAMBER PROFILE:

ROCKER/REVERSE CAMBER

Essentially it is the opposite of traditional camber. There is a continuous concave or “rocker” shape between the tip and tail contact points. Reverse camber boards were traditionally recommended for beginners because it makes turn initiation easier and you are less likely to catch an edge. However, it also provides a looser feel which may not be the easiest for the beginner to control.

The continuous rocker profile has a very playful feel, is great for butters and floats well in powder.

The trade off is that there is less pop, they feel loose (which is only a bad thing if you don’t want a loose feeling board), doesn’t hold an edge as well as other profiles, and it is more difficult to stomp landings from big air.

TRUE TWIN

A true twin shape is completely symmetrical. If you cut a true twin in half exactly down the middle you would end up with two identical pieces of board.

This means that the nose and the tail are the same length and the same width and the bindings are centred on the board – i.e. they are equal distances from the centre of the board and the front binding is the same distance from the nose as the back binding is from the tail.

Of course, as you can adjust the width of the position of the bindings you could create a setback stance if you were so inclined but this would be unusual on a true twin given its purpose and might be a strange feel depending on the camber profile (i.e. one foot could end up being over camber and the other over rocker which would probably feel odd).

In addition to this a true twin has exactly the same flex in the nose and tail.
