BEHIND THE PRODUCT
BEHIND THE PRODUCT
The new Ultralight Butterfly Split is an ultralight split made for high alpine pursuits where the balance of weight and performance are hyper-critical. By drastically reducing the tip and tail size, but keeping the contact points pushed out, the Butterfly Split has the effective edge of a board 10cm longer than its length. The long effective edge is matched wih a true camber profile for maximum edge power in variable alpine conditions. For added float, quick edge-to-edge response, and unmatched torsional board lock, the Butterfly Split features 8mm of taper, a 3D Contour Base 3.0, Inner/Outer Traction Tech 3.0, the Boltless Bridge, Karakoram Tip Lock Tip Clips and Karakoram 3C Clips. The Ultralight Butterfly Split is also built with our Fusion Carbon construction including a new eco-top sheet and a wood core made with two sections of Koroyd that absorb chatter at a fraction of the weight of wood. The Ultralight Butterfly Split matches a revolutionary shape concept with cutting-edge ultralight materials to become the key for pioneering riders to unlock game-changing new lines in remote terrain.

PRODUCT FEATURES
PRODUCT FEATURES
Key Features:
- Glassing: Bio Resin - Bio Resin is a bio-based epoxy made with 27% plant-based carbon instead of petroleum-based carbon. The organic raw materials used to make bio-resin are co-products or waste products of plant-based industrial processes. Bio-resin requires 33% less greenhouse gas emissions to produce than conventional epoxy.
- Core: Fusion Core - The Fusion Core is Jones lightest wood core yet. Core is made from mostly paulownia with specifically positioned pockets of poplar for improved durability and response.
- Base: Ultra Base - Jones exclusive base material that sets new performance standards. Lab results and snow testing show 25% better wax absorption, better glide in warm/wet snow and better durability for grinding. They have also doubled the amount of wax and mixed multiple wax types for a faster factory wax in a wider range of conditions.
- Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 with Tip-Lock - Redesigned Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 are lighter weight, clamp tighter and have a smaller footprint than the original Ultra Clip. They are also adjustable so you can maintain even compression as your splitboard ages.
- Boltless Bridge - The Boltless Bridge eliminates split clip attachment hardware from the base of the board by re-profiling the wood core at the clips. The wood core under the clips is thicker, providing better torsional stiffness and a more powerful connection at the split clips.
In-depth Tech Specs:
- Profile: True Camber - Precision, control and pop. The side profile of camber looks like a rainbow. Tried and true, camber has been the dominant board bend in the snowboard industry for almost 40 years. Adopted from the bend of alpine skis, camber snowboards deliver precise turning and edge control, with spring-loaded pop due to the bend in the board, providing better jumping characteristics. Advanced riders tend to prefer this bend, especially for hard carving and high-speed riding. Even when it comes to softer park snowboards, camber boards deliver exceptional pop and control.
- Shape: Directional Tapered - A directional shape with a longer, softer nose and a shorter, stiffer tail gets taken to the next level with a tapering design—which sees a wider nose tapering into a narrower tail. The advantages are two-fold: this shape not only sees mega-enhanced floatation with a surfy feel in deep powder, it also creates a faster turning snowboard which is noticeably more nimble and great for tree riding.
- Flex: 8 Power. Precision. Control.
