PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Mind Expander Split was built for the creative rider who weaves nimble and playful lines as they slash through the backcountry. Designed by surf shaper Chris Christenson and Jeremy Jones, the Mind Expander Split features a hybrid directional shape with a blunt nose for epic float in pow, a full size tail for legit freestyle performance, and a short sidecut for snappy turn potential. New for 22/23, the Mind Expander Split now features a Surf Camber profile for better edge hold in variable conditions and the stance was moved forward 20mm for improved carving performance. To keep the playful board feel, the Control Split Core has V-core profiling that gives the board a softer flex between the feet for easy turn initiation and a stiffer flex in the tips so you won’t fold the nose. For enhanced grip on icy skintracks or firm descents the Mind Expander Split has Inner/Outer Traction Tech 1.0 edges, and for unmatched torsional board connection in ride mode, the Mind Expander Split features the Boltless Bridge plus Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 and Tip-Lock Tip Clips.

Profile: Christenson Surf Camber / Rocker
Terrain: Powder/Back Country
Response: Medium

Features:

  • Control Split Core: Dual-density full premium wood core designed specifically
for splitboards 2:1 paulownia to poplar stringer ratio keeps core light yet ultra damp.
  • Biax Fiberglass: A dual-direction, dual-layer, stitched fiberglass laminate that provides a fun, forgiving and snappy ride.
  • Sintered 8000 base: Super durable base material made from Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and carbon. Base is easy to repair, easy to wax and super fast.
  • Eco-Plastic Topsheet: Bio-plastic topsheet made from Castor beans. This ecomaterial is ultralight, chip/scratch resistant and water/snow repellent (snow sticks less to topsheet).
  • Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 with Tip-Lock: Karakoram Ultra Clips 2.0 are lighter weight, clamp tighter and have a smaller footprint than the original Ultra Clip. They are also adjustable so you can maintain even compression as your splitboard ages.
  • Oversized recycled edges: Oversized recycled steel edges for added durability and
    improved production sustainability.
  • Recycled ABS Sidewalls: ABS Plastic is one of the necessary evils of snowboard production. Jones improves the sustainability of their snowboards by using only recycled plastic.
  • Wend Natural Wax: Jones boards are ready to shred straight out of the shop
and are factory waxed with WEND natural wax.
  • Factory Tuned: All Jones Snowboards are factory de-tuned at the tip and tail so you can go right from the shop to the mountain.
  • Forever Flex: Forever Flex is a manufacturing process that helps stabilize the flex and rocker profile of a board for it’s lifetime. Our boards now finish the first stages of production slightly overbuilt and then we “break them in” using specialized machinery that mimics extreme riding use. By flexing the fresh board fibers and epoxy at the factory the materials settle in to their final arrangement within the board layup much the same as if you rode the board for 20 days. This process helps us narrow our production tolerances so the board you buy has a more accurate specified flex and rocker profile that will change less as you ride it more.
  • Flip Flop Base

Profile: Christenson Surf Camber / Rocker

A hybrid rocker/camber flex pattern defined by more tip rocker than tail
rocker and camber between the bindings. The rockered tips floats the
board’s nose and improves maneuverability while the camber underfoot
provides edge hold and response. A slightly rockered tail maintains the
power and stability of a traditional board but helps keep the tail catch-free
initiating turns and landing switch.

Shape: Directional

A smooth, reliable ride.

Directional shapes generally feature a longer, softer nose and a shorter, stiffer tail. These shapes thrive in an all-mountain environment, as they possess the ability to ride more smoothly than their twin-tip counterparts and behave more reliably in variable snow conditions, anywhere from choppy snow to deeper powder. More twin-looking directional shapes where the difference between nose and tail appear minimal will perform best as crossover freestyle snowboards for those looking to still access the park, while more exaggerated differences will excel for additional float in deep powder.

Flex: 6 (Scale 1 - 10)

Versatility at its finest.

Base: Sintered

High-end base material that is harder, more durable, and faster than extruded bases.
